Adjectives

Use: describes a noun (person, place, or thing)
Examples: early, late, fast, slow, rich, poor, happy, sad, expensive, cheap, tall, short, fat, thin, old, young, good, bad, far, near
 Don't confuse them with adverbs: quickly, sadly, badly, wisely, poorly, happily, nearly

Comparative
One-syllable adjectives and two-syllable adjectives ending in "y"
adjective+er than
Examples:
She is taller than her brothers.
The project was completed earlier than expected.
He was always happier than his brother.
Two-syllable adjectives not ending in "y" and longer adjectives
more adjective than
Examples:
It was more expensive than I thought it would be.

good better: He is a better player than most of the team.
bad worse: This is worse than my previous phone.
far farther: My first class was farther than I thought.


Superlative
One-syllable adjectives and two-syllable adjectives ending in "y"
the adjective+est
Examples:
He is the greatest ballplayer ever.
She is the tallest member of her family.
He looks like the happiest person in that photo.
Two-syllable adjectives not ending in "y" and longer adjectives
the most adjective
Examples:
It is the most expensive gift I have ever bought.

good the best: It was the best truffle cake I had ever tasted.
bad the worst: This is the worst thing that could happen.
far farthest: Her dorm is the farthest on campus.
