Gerunds are nouns: subject, object, and subject complement.

Form: VERBing
Example: We postponed making a decision.

Pronouns and nouns: Use the possessive pronoun or noun before gerunds.
Example: I miss his singing in the shower.

Examples:
I abhor wasting food. (wasting food is the object of the verb abhor)
